Nokia 6300 with a battery solution ?

Nokia has been pioneer in providing the most user-friendly handsets so far that even looks great. Hira my sister had this phone last year – Today I decided to write her personal opinion about this cell phone.

She is an M.B.B.S student , and always saw her taking snaps of the environment around her – Before asking her the reason , I thought may be its her hobby but when she told me that she is collecting these pictures for the research for her Community Medicine subject. I was surprised to know how the advancements in today’s technology can really help a MBBS student as well.

Besides collecting pictures, other advantages include a slim candy bar build and solid design. At just 91g it is as close to a featherweight as you’ll get for a phone with so much metal in its casing. A good proportion of the front fascia and the back battery cover are made of cold silver metal. The front buttons are silver plastic, while the upper third of the back of the casing, screen surround and shortcut buttons are black plastic, the latter punctuated by a silver navigation key. The color scheme and use of metal lend an air of sophistication to what is essentially a low cost, mid range handset.

It is 106.4 mm tall, 43.6 mm wide and 11.7 mm thick. That doesn’t quite match the W800i’s ‘Size Zero’ 103 x 47 x 9.4mm but it gets close enough for me, and very importantly, this phone beats the W880i hands down on the all important factor of usability.
The 6300’s main keys are sizeable and clearly marked, making fast texting unproblematic. The Nokia selection keys and Call and End keys are well spaced, and the navigation pad and its central select button are large.

The major disadvantage of the phone includes no UTMS support, and low battery. It is prone to fingerprints and it always takes the portrait orientation of images taken with the camera. Videos can only be taken at QCIF (176 x 144 pixels) resolution only. Side keys are difficult to press although the keypad of the phone itself is very convenient. Last, there is no infra red port.

Nokia 6300 has a memory card slot located under the rear plate, on the left – a happy solution allowing memory card changing without switching off the device. The slot is for microSD cards; one such of 128 MB capacity is directly available with the purchase of the phone, whose internal memory is otherwise rather limited

Nokia 3120 Classic - A Mobile with Style!!

I already recommended this phone as a perfect gift to present someone whom you really care and love a lot. To be very honest, this phone is a good combination of Nokia 6233 and Nokia 6300 . Price of both these handsets is almost the same. Nokia 3120 classic basically has all the missing featuires of both these phones individually and collectively, with improved battery, camera and flash. Thanks to Nokia for another great product.

Should i go for Nokia 7610 Supernova?

The other day i was viewing user comments of Nokia 7610 supernova, many people are not happy with the phone reason being the touch feature usually get stuck while dialing or doing texting. However, the overall design of this phone is too classic and is too appropriate for a common user specially girls.

Check out some user reviews at GSM ARENA. I will soon review this phone and will give my personal opinion.

Nokia N79 Versus Nokia N82 - Who is the winner ?

Found out a little argument session at GSMArena today where people are discussing the difference between Nokia N79 and Nokia N82. helpplz2oo9 a Phone Enthusiast thinks that N82 is the clear winner, while the N79 is having a significant distant 2nd place but in the end he says it might just his opinion. Then ClonMult the moderator stated "But there is also the practical element of almost being unable to get hold of a new N82 - the Nokia UK shop doesn't list them as available any longer. I'll have to pick one up from the local electronics exchange store - ie. 2nd hand".

Concluding it, Shaun3230 stated N82, overall and argubly camera. you do not need an 8mp unit. And the N82`s cam is real great coupled with one of the best flash to be paired on a phone. Thanks to GsmArena for providing a forum where people can discuss real views and reviews of different phones.

The most Stylish phone:Nokia 6600 slide

Now seriously, i found Nokia 6600 slide the most stylish of all the phones i have ever seen. A sophisticated slider phone, which is available in only Black skin color. On the front there is a wide 240 x 320 pixels, 2.2 inches TFT, 16M colors display and just under that there is a D-pad and four buttons, and when slider is opened there is a nice set of keypad, which will surely be helpful while messaging. On the top front there is a ear piece and a video call camera. On the back 6600 slide is equipped with 3.15 mega pixel camera with auto focus and LED flash. Nokia 6600 Slide’s measurements are 90 x 45 x 14 mm, 52 cc and weights around 110 g, which means it can easily fit in your jeans pocket. For further specifications and details, visit GSM Arena. Abbu has recently bought it in Rs 22,200 from a local market. I think it is not much expensive as compared to other Sony Ericsson and LG phones. Buy it and explore it – and have fun :)

iPhone 3G S - S for speed

Apple Company has announced a newest version of the iPhone: the iPhone 3G S. The ‘S’ stands for Speed, with Apple claiming that the new iPhone 3GS is the fastest, most powerful iPhone. New iPhone 3GS is built to run data-intensive applications much faster. It can also record video.

Apple’s new iPhone 3GS has a new processor built-in. Apple claims that it is up to 2 times faster than the previous iPhone version. Loading messages is 2.1 faster, load the NY Times in Safari: 2.9 times faster. It also consumes less battery charge, which has an impact on the improved battery life. Although it looks almost exactly like the 3G, it’s much, much faster — few tasks are almost four times faster.

The phone can record video in VGA format at 30 frames per second. That’s equal speed as compare with some video cameras, but not quite high-definition video. New camera comes with auto focus, auto exposure, and auto white balance.

USA: Ranking of pre-paid mobile customer satisfaction gives top place to NET10, TracFone and Boost Mobile

USA: Ranking of pre-paid mobile customer satisfaction gives top place to NET10, TracFone and Boost Mobile

[PRNewswire] Prepaid carrier NET10 ranks highest in overall customer satisfaction among non-contract wireless users, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 U.S. Wireless Prepaid Customer Satisfaction Index Study(SM) released today.

NET10, included in the study for the first time this year, achieves a score of 774 on a 1,000-point scale and performs particularly well in three of the six factors that drive overall satisfaction: performance and reliability; cost of service; and account management. Also ranking at or above the industry average in rank order are TracFone, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Alltel and T-Mobile.

"NET10 differentiates itself from other companies by simplifying the wireless experience with straightforward pricing, virtually no roaming charges and robust nationwide network coverage," said Kirk Parsons, senior director of wireless services at J.D. Power and Associates. "Users find they don't have to worry about restrictive calling areas and can maintain their account without hassle."

The study finds that product offerings in the prepaid segment have changed dramatically during the past year, with many wireless carriers increasing their offerings of monthly plans--some of which mimic traditional contract plans, while others offer unlimited calling and texting. More than 40 percent of non-contract plans are monthly plans, compared with less than 30 percent in 2008.

In addition, overall satisfaction among users of pay-as-you-go plans (756, on average) is considerably higher compared with users of monthly plans (742, on average), driven by satisfaction with the performance and reliability and account management factors.

The study also finds several demographic differences that distinguish pay-as-you-go users from users of monthly prepaid service. The average pay-as-you-go user is older, more likely to be retired and has fewer wireless phones in their household. The average monthly prepaid plan user more closely resembles the average contract plan user--desiring a large network, mid-range feature phones and messaging, but without the commitment or penalties of a contract. Two-thirds of monthly plan users report that they have switched service from their former contracted service carrier.

"As the non-contract wireless market continues to evolve, users need to be sure to explore all of the alternatives available to them in order to determine the appropriate plan that suits their needs," said Parsons. "With this increased breadth of options, wireless users can find a plan that optimizes their wireless experience and meets their budget without requiring them to sign a contract."

The study also finds the following key non-contract wireless usage patterns:

* Pay-as-you-go users spend an average of $35 for each airtime purchase, a decrease of $5 from 2008.
* Monthly non-contract users spend an average of $25 less per month than do those with contracts. Monthly non-contract users report spending $56 per month compared with an average monthly service cost of $81 for contract users.
* Non-contract users report using 320 minutes per month--a notable increase from 233 minutes in 2008. Pay-as-you-go users report using an average of just 145 minutes, while monthly non-contract users report an average of 573 minutes per month.
*During the past 12 months, 16 percent of non-contract users have switched carriers. *More than half (51%) of these users previously had contract service.
*Switching intent within the next year remains steady at 12 percent, compared with 13 percent in 2008. Among users intending to switch, 24 percent intend to switch to contract service.

The 2009 U.S. Wireless Prepaid Customer Satisfaction Index Study, now in its fourth year, measures customer satisfaction with current non-contract wireless service across six key factors. In order of importance, they are: performance and reliability (28%); cost of service (19%); account management (17%); initial activation (15%); offerings and promotions (12%); and customer service (9%). The study is based on responses from 4,229 wireless users who currently subscribe to non-contract service plans. Findings are based on a continuous fielding period between January and June 2009.

china mobile internet users

China: Mobile Internet users now number 155 million and growing rapidly according to CNNIC

[china news wrap] The Sina news portal has a headline news story reporting that the total number of internet users in China has reached 338 million, and that the total number of people in China who access the internet by means of their mobile phones has reached 155 million.

“At 13:30 in the afternoon on 16 July, the China National Network Information Centre (CNNIC) released its ‘24th Internet Development Statistical Report’ in Beijing, indicating that as of 30 June 2009, the total number of Chinese internet users was 338 million, and the total number of Chinese internet users with broadband access was 320 million, comprising 94.3% of all internet users. The total number of internet users who use their mobile phones to access the internet is 155 million.”

“The ‘Report’ indicates that as of 30 June, the total number of Chinese internet users and Chinese broadband users is still the highest in the world, and that the internet access rate is steadily increasing. With the development of 3G technology, the number of internet users who use their mobile phones to access the internet has already reached 155 million, comprising 46% of all internet users, and increasing by 32.1% within the space of only six months.”

“At the same time, internet security has become one of the most important issues for all areas of society, with the existence of internet worms, viruses and trojan horses creating problems for the development of e-commerce and online payment. The report points out that given the rapid increase in the number of internet users and internet applications, China’s internet must develop from the stage of usability to the stage of reliability.”

“Number of internet users remains highest in the world, internet access continues to grow steadily.”

“The effect of the global financial crisis, which continues to spread, upon China’s internet has not been significant. The ‘Report’ indicates that the number of Chinese internet users and broadband users is soaring, and that China’s total number of internet users continues to remain the highest in the world. As of the end of June 2009, the total number of China’s internet users was 338 million, increasing by 13.4% compared to the end of 2008, and increasing by 40 million in the space of half a year. The number of broadband internet users reached 320 million, comprising 94.3% of all internet users, and increasing by 3.7 percentage points compared to the end of 2008.”

“With the continuing increase in the number of internet users, the access to the internet within China has also steadily increased. Data indicates that as of the end of June 2009, China’s internet access rate reached 25.5%, maintaining a steady rate of increase.”

“Mobile phone internet use increases by 30% in six months, 3G market capacity still highly flexible”

“Data from the ‘Report’ shows that as of June 2009, the number of internet users who use their mobile phones to access the internet reached 155 million, increasing by 32.1% in six months. In addition to benefiting from the strenuous efforts of the government and businesses to promote its usage, this increase is also closely related to innate trends in internet usage, and the wealth of developments in methods for using mobile phones to access the internet. The proportion of people in rural areas using mobile phones to access the internet has also further increased.”

“According to surveys, amongst internet users who use mobile phones to access the internet, 28% indicated that in future they would use 3G mobile phones to acces the internet; 39.6% had no definite attitudes about how they would use mobile phones to access the internet in future. Amongst internet users who have not used their mobile phones to access the internet, 14.8% indicated that they might use their mobile phone to access the internet within the next six months, and of these people, 49% indicated that they would use 3G mobile phones to access the internet. This clearly indicates that the future market capacity for 3G mobile phone technology is quite flexible, and needs businesses to invest their efforts in its development.”

“Entertainment applications see stable development, commercial applications also develop”

“The ‘Report’ indicates that at present, the percentage of Chinese internet users who use the internet for entertainment, obtaining information and social interaction is relatively high, and that in addition to discussion forums and BBS’s, over 50% of internet users use the internet for these three purposes. Use of the internet for entertainment purposes has stabilized following a long-period of rapid increase. Use of the internet to listen to music is still the most popular form of usage, with the usage rate increasing by 1.8% in the past six months. The number of people who use the internet to watch television shows or movies is increasing rapidly, growing by 10% in the past six months.”

“What is worth noting is that the use of the internet for commercial transactions has increased wildly, due to the effects of the international financial crisis. The number of people who use the internet for purchasing goods has reached 87.88 million, increasing by 14 million in the space of six months. The rate of usage of the internet for payment purposes has increased by 4.8 percentage points in the past half year. Analysts point out that the financial crisis has made the advantages of using internet purchasing platforms more pronounced, attracting a large number of internet purchasers. This is the reason that the use of the internet for commercial transactions has increased so quickly.”

“The importance of internet security increases daily, internet reliabilty has become the future trend.”

“The ‘Report’ points out that in the past six months, 195 million internet users have suffered from computer viruses and trojan horses as a result of internet use, and 110 million internet users have experienced problems with people stealing their account numbers or codes. The problem of internet security has caused the confidence of internet users in the in the internet to decline, with only 29.2% of internet users feeling that online transactions are safe. This further restricts e-commerce, online payments, and the development of internet commercial applications.”

“Analysts point out that with the constant improvement of China’s basic internet facilities, the increase in the number of internet users, and the innovation and development of internet technology, internet applications have gradually shifted from entertainment to infiltrate all areas of economic life, and the need for confidence in the internet and internet security is also continually increasing. Means for increasing the level of trust of internet users in the internet have already become an issue in urgent need of resolution, and the creation of a ‘reliable’ internet environment on a foundation of ‘usability’ has become the necessary trend of the future.”
